MWC Preseason Coaches' Poll

Garver, Peterson headline All-Mountain West Team

Senior catcher Mitchell Garver (left) and junior third baseman DJ Peterson, teammates from New Mexico and Co-Players of the Year in the Mountain West Conference in 2012, lead the Preseason All-Mountain West Team, in voting by the league’s head coaches and released by the conference office.

Defending champion and preseason favorite New Mexico had five players on the preseason all-conference squad. Joining Garver and Peterson were senior shortstop Alex Allbritton, sophomore outfielder Ryan Padilla and senior pitcher Hobie McClain.

Conference newcomer Fresno State has two players on the team, while Air Force, Nevada, San Diego State and UNLV had one each.

The 2013 campaign begins on Friday, Feb. 15, with all six teams in action. Conference play kicks off the weekend of March 15-17. Fresno State will serve as host for the 2013 MWC Championship at Pete Beiden Field. The six-team double elimination tournament will be held May 22-26.
