DeNato Limits Louisville

Joey DeNato tossed a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts as Indiana claimed a 2-0 win over Louisville Saturday night in Game 2 of the College World Series in front of a stadium-record crowd of 27,122 at TD Ameritrade Park.

DeNato (10-2) was in control from the start as the Cardinals (51-13) were shut out for the second time this season - both games came against the Hoosiers (49-14), who are now 3-1 against Louisville this season.

Scott Donley had an RBI single in the first inning to score Kyle Schwarber (2 for 5), and Michael Basil added an RBI single in the third to score Will Nolden (1 for 2, 3 BBs) - Schwarber was thrown out at the plate by Cardinals left fielder Coco Johnson.

Donley and Basil also had RBI singles in the Hoosiers' 2-0 win over the Cardinals to open the 2013 season, a game in which DeNato tossed four scoreless innings.

Nolden returned the favor in the bottom of the third, throwing out Sutton Whiting at the plate. Whiting was trying to score from second on a Cole Sturgeon (2 for 3) single to right.

Chad Green (10-4) lasted only two-plus innings for Louisville, allowing three hits, two earned runs and four walks and striking out four. Cody Ege struck out six and allowed three hits in 4.1 scoreless innings for the Cardinals.

Indiana advances to face Mississippi State, while Louisville will meet Oregon State in an elimination game on Monday.
