Nola Pitches LSU Past Oklahoma

In Baton Rouge, La., Aaron Nola pitched a two-hit shutout as LSU blanked Oklahoma 2-0 in Game 1 of the Baton Rouge Super Regional in front of a record crowd of 11,095 at Alex Box Stadium.

Nola (12-0) did not walk a batter and struck out six. He threw 102 pitches and faced two batters over the minimum.

The Tigers (56-9) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth. JaCoby Jones had a one-out triple and scored on a pinch-hit double by Tyler Moore. Jared Foster pinch-ran for Moore and came home on a base hit by Mark Laird (3 for 4) to make it 2-0.

Jonathan Gray (10-3, 7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 9 K) suffered the loss for the Sooners (43-20).

Matt Oberste had a double in the fifth and Colt Bickerstaff added a single in the eighth for OU.
