Giving a Diamond on the Diamond

It was quite a memorable Senior Day for Richmond’s Jacob Mayers.

He started on the mound and allowed three runs (one earned) in 7.1 innings with five strikeouts. Mayers had two hits at the plate as the Spiders posted a 4-3 win in 10 innings over Temple at Pitt Field to capture the Atlantic 10 series.

But the biggest play was yet to come.

Mayers returned to the mound following the game for a photo with his girlfriend. After the picture, he dropped to a knee and proposed to his girlfriend.
