Dunn drives in three as Oregon State outscores Pacific

Saint Mary's beats BYU, Oregon wins at Belmont, Hawaii whips Wagner

 

In San Diego, Ryan Dunn drove in three as No. 18 Oregon State outscored Pacific 10-7 Thursday afternoon in the USD Tournament at Cunningham Stadium. Dunn had a two-run hit in the second and a RBI groundout in the seventh. John Tommasini had three hits, including a double, with one run and one RBI for the Beavers (4-1). Ryan Barnes (2 for 4, 2B, 1 RBI) and Tyler Smith (1 for 2, 1 RBI) both scored twice for OSU. Curtis Gomez and Dustin Torchio both had two hits and two RBI for the Tigers (0-5).

 

Saint Mary’s 7, BYU 2

In Moraga, Calif., Donald Collins went 3 for 4 with a triple and four RBI as Saint Mary’s remained undefeated by beating BYU in the opener of their three-game West Coast Conference series. After the Cougars (0-1, 2-2) got a run in the top of the second on a base hit by Wes Guenther (2 for 3), Collins delivered a three-run triple in the bottom of the frame to put the Gaels (1-0, 5-0) on top for good. Martin Agosta (1-0) allowed seven hits and one run in eight innings with no walks and six strikeouts to earn the victory. Alex Wolfe went 2 for 3 with a run for BYU.

 

Oregon 13, Belmont 4

In Nashville, Tenn., Ryon Healy went 3 for 5 with a homer and four RBI as Oregon swamped Belmont. The Ducks (4-1) scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings in building a 10-3 lead. Shaun Chase (2 for 4, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Connor Hoffman (2 for 5, 2 R, 2 RBI) also went deep for Oregon. Billy Flamion (1-0, 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K) earned the win in relief, while David Wylie allowed four hits and one run over the final three innings with three strikeouts to record the save. Jared Breen (1 for 3, 2 R) and Drew Turner (1 for 3, 2 RBI) both homered for the Bruins (2-2).

 

Hawaii 9, Wagner 2

In Honolulu, Zack Swasey had a three-run double to spark a seven-run fifth as Hawaii whipped Wagner at Les Murakami Stadium. The Rainbows (2-3) scored single runs in the first and third before the Seahawks (0-1) tied it with a pair in the top of the fifth. Hawaii then took charge with its fifth-inning outburst. Stephen Ventimilia went 3 for 5 with a triple, one run and two RBI for the Rainbows. Hayden Hunter and Ian Miller both had two hits for Wagner. Matt Sisto (2-0) allowed six hits and one earned run in eight innings with no walks and six strikeouts in securing the win.

 

Kansas State 7, San Diego State 2

In San Diego, Kayvon Bahramzadeh pitched six solid innings as Kansas State stopped San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Bahramzadeh (1-0) allowed four hits and one earned run with one walk and two strikeouts. The Wildcats (2-2) put up two in the first and three in the third to take control early. Jared King (3 for 5, 2B, 2 R), Wade Hinkle (3 for 5, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Dan Klein (1 for 3, 2 RBI) led the offense for K-State. John Spirk homered for the Aztecs (1-4).

 

Delaware 3, The Citadel 2

In Charleston, S.C., Joe Giacchino had a sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth as Delaware edged The Citadel at Riley Park. The Bulldogs (1-3) put two in scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, but Eric Buckland got the final out to earn the save. Devon Pearson (1-0, 1 IP, 1 BB) earned the win in relief for the Blue Hens (1-3). Nick Ferdinand had two hits and a run for Delaware. Tyler Griffin had two hits and one RBI for The Citadel.
