Charlottesville Regional - #2 Oklahoma wins

#2 Oklahoma 5, #3 Appalachian State 2 (ASU eliminated)

#2 Oklahoma 14, #3 Appalachian State 6

Drew Harrison and two relievers held Appalachian State to a pair of runs as Oklahoma completed the doubleheader sweep to win the Charlottesville Regional. The Sooners (42-23) will travel to South Carolina this week for the Columbia Super Regional. It will be the third Super Regional for OU, winning in Charlottesville in 2010 over Virginia and falling at Rice in 2006. Harrison (1-0) allowed three hits and two runs in six innings with three walks and four strikeouts. Jordan John (2 H, 1 BB) pitched two scoreless innings before Steven Okert worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his fifth save. John hurled eight innings on Saturday and was the losing pitcher in the opening round game against ASU. After the Mountaineers (41-18) got one in the top of the first, OU put up three in the bottom of the frame and made it stand up. Jack Mayfield had a triple, a sac fly and three RBI for the Sooners. Daniek Kassouf had a double and drove in both runs, while Will Callaway had a triple, two walks and scored both runs for ASU.

In the first game, Matt Oberste went 4 for 4 with two doubles, four runs and four RBI as Oklahoma outscored Appalachian State to force a deciding game. After the Mountaineers (41-17) scored three in the third, the Sooners (41-23) answered with three in the fourth and four in both the sixth and seventh for an 11-3 lead. Cody Reine went 2 for 5 with a homer and six RBI for OU. Garrett Carey (2 for 5) also went deep for the Sooners. Brandon Burris was 3 for 6 with two runs for ASU.

Raleigh Regional - #1 NC State wins

#1 NC State 9, #2 Vanderbilt 7 (Vandy eliminated)

Tarran Senay, a .213 hitter entering the night, hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning and added the go-ahead two-run single in the top of the ninth as NC State scored six times in the final two innings to overcome Vanderbilt. The Wofpack (43-18) advances to meet Florida State in the Super Regionals, while the Commodores finish at 35-28. Vanderbilt built a 7-3 lead after seven innings and was poised to ride its recent hot streak to the Super Regionals. Mike Yastrzemski went 4 for 5 with a homer, two RBI and two runs, and Connor Castellano had two hits and three RBI for the Commodores. Tyler Beede had kept NC State in check upon entering in the second inning. He ran into trouble in the eighth and was replaced by Philip Pfeifer, who entered to face Senay. Senay ripped his sixth homer of the year to cut Vandy’s lead to one at 7-6. Senay did it again in the ninth, and Ryan Wilkins capped 4.1 innings of brilliant relief by closing out the Commodores.

Waco Regional - #1 Baylor wins

#1 Baylor 8, #2 Dallas Baptist 2 (DBU eliminated)
