Notes: Oregon will be hosting a regional for the first time since the program’s resurgence, but it will be the second time they have reached the postseason since. The Ducks ended the season with a sweep by Oregon State. It was the first time that the Ducks had been swept all year and only the third time they had lost a series all year. Oregon finished third in the Pac-12 behind UCLA and Arizona. Jimmie Sherfy set an Oregon single season record for saves with 17.

Notes: Won the Big West championship after beating Long Beach State on the last game of the year. Fullerton reaches the postseason for the 34th time out of the last 38 years and their 21st consecutive postseason appearance. Rick Vanderhook wins his first conference championship in his first year as head coach at Fullerton. Cal State Fullerton will appear in its 21st straight NCAA tournament, the third-longest active streak in the nation. Miami is at 40 and Florida State is at 35. Michael Lorenzen was selected in the seventh round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.

Notes: Rick Heller coached for 12 years at Upper Iowa and 10 years at Northern Iowa prior to the sport being dropped. ISU is in the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time overall and first since 1995. Jeremy Lucas was named the Joe Carter MVC Player of the Year, while Rick Heller was named the Dan Callahan MVC Coach of the Year. The Sycamores are on a four-game losing streak entering the NCAA tourney. ISU has scored 58 runs in the first inning, more runs than in any other inning. The Sycamores have outscored their opponents 58-19 in the first. ISU is 22-3 when scoring in the first inning and 31-7 when scoring first. The Sycamores are 34-4 when holding the opponent to four runs or less. ISU has been involved in 11 shutouts, winning eight.

Notes: The Governors are in the field for the third time in seven seasons after winning 15 of their past 18 games, including three straight in the OVC tourney. The last time Austin Peay was in the tourney, it battled Vandy’s David Price tooth and nail, eventually losing 2-1 in 11 innings. Lefty Jeremy Dobbs, who will start Friday, is the OVC Pitcher of the Year. The Govs have siblings in Reed and Ryne Harper. John Hogan has 13 of the team’s 45 homers, and Michael Blanchard has 18 extra-base hits to go with 28 stolen bases.
