CSU Bakersfield & Dallas Baptist to play WAC baseball

The Western Athletic Conference announced that Cal State Bakersfield and Dallas Baptist will join the league as affiliate members in baseball for the 2013 season.

The addition will give the WAC a 10-team baseball conference with Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Sacramento State, San Jose State, Seattle, UT Arlington, UTSA and Texas State.

The Roadrunners enter their fourth year as a Division I independent after adding baseball for the 2009 campaign. CSUB was 33-22 this past season with a final RPI of 53 under head coach Bill Kernen.

The Patriots have strung together 32 consecutive winning seasons. DBU has posted a record of 208-132 in six years as a Division I independent. Head coach Dan Heefner led the Patriots to victory at the Fort Worth Regional and their first Super Regional appearance.

For the 2013 season, each WAC team will play a full conference slate of nine series of three games each for 27 league total contests.
