Schlossnagle to lead Team USA in 2013

TCU head coach Jim Schlossnagle has been named manager of the 2013 Collegiate National Team.

This will be the first time Schlossnagle has managed Team USA. He was pitching coach for the 2006 Collegiate National Team, which compiled a mark of 28-2. The pitching staff, which included David Price, Jake Arrieta, Ross Detwiler, Sean Doolittle and Tommy Hunter, had a team ERA of 1.24 with 341 strikeouts and 98 walks in 275 innings.

Schlossnagle is entering his 10th season as head coach of the Horned Frogs. He has posted a record of 388-175 (.677) in nine seasons at TCU. Schlossnagle was named Mountain West Coach of the Year seven times. He was National Coach of the Year in 2010 after taking the Horned Frogs to their first College World Series appearance. TCU was 40-22 overall this past season and 18-5 in the Mountain West. The Horned Frogs won the College Station Regional and fell to UCLA in the Los Angeles Super Regional. TCU is in its first year as a member of the Big 12.

The 2013 schedule for Team USA is being finalized, but series with both Japan and Cuba are expected. The other members of the coaching staff will be announced in the near future.
