Fall exhibitions begin this weekend

As the calendar approaches autumn, college baseball teams will set their sights on fall exhibition games.

The first contests will take place this weekend. Central Michigan will welcome the Ontario Blue Jays on Friday, Sept. 16, at 3 p.m. Michigan State will visit Notre Dame on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10:30 a.m. prior to the football game against the two institutions. UNC Wilmington will host Team USA on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Miracle League in Wilmington. Eastern Michigan will entertain the Ontario Nationals on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m.

There are several interesting approaches to this year’s fall exhibitions. Texas will have four home games, hosting Houston, UTSA, Sam Houston State and Texas State. Cal State Fullerton will fly to Nashville for a pair of contests at Vanderbilt on Homecoming Weekend.

Missouri will welcome Iowa for a pair of exhibitions to benefit the Joplin (Mo.) Little League in its efforts to rebuild the program after the deadly tornado struck in May. The games will be on Oct. 8 & 9 at Taylor Stadium with tickets at $5.

We will continue to add to the exhibition schedule as we receive additional information.
