Late flurry of signings
precedes deadline
Some
took until the final minutes to get finalized, but by midnight
Eastern Time on Monday, all but one of the first round draft
picks inked deals.
Tyler Beede, the 21st overall pick, could not
come to terms with the Toronto Blue Jays and the pitcher will
head to Vanderbilt.
Only one player taken in the supplemental round
did not sign. Brett Austin, the 54th overall selection, did not
reach an agreement with the San Diego Padres. The catcher will
attend North Carolina State.
The top unsigned college selections all reached
late deals. Top pick Gerrit Cole (right) reached an agreement
with the Pittsburgh Pirates for $8 million (click

Danny Hultzen signed with the Seattle Mariners for $8.5 million
(click
