Firing, suspensions from JSU-Prairie View altercation

According to multiple reports, Jackson State assistant coach Kevin Whiteside was fired for his involvement in an on-field altercation during Saturday’s game between JSU and Prairie View A&M in Jackson.

Whiteside, a former Tiger player, was also suspended by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for six games and fined $2,000.

The SWAC suspended Kendall Logan and Marshun Hall of Jackson State for three games and fined the school $1,000. The conference also suspended Evan Richard and Andre Oliver of Prairie View for three games and fined the school $1,000.

The game was cancelled, as were two games on Sunday in JSU’s tournament.

The teams are not scheduled to play again during the regular season, but could meet in the SWAC Tournament in May.
