Texas takes top spot in USA Today/ESPN coaches' poll 

 

The Texas Longhorns received 18 of the possible 31 first-place votes to claim the top spot in the USA Today/ESPN preseason coaches’ poll.

 

The national runner-up from a season ago, Texas earned 760 points to finish ahead of defending national champion LSU. The Tigers received 10 first-place votes and 721 points.

 

Cal State Fullerton received a pair of first-place votes and 671 points for third place, narrowly edging Virginia with 665 points. The Cavaliers received the final first-place vote.

 

Rounding out the Top Ten were Florida State, Rice, UC Irvine, Arizona State, Florida and Georgia Tech.
