Texas tops Baseball America Preseason Poll 

 

The Texas Longhorns, under head coach Augie Garrido (right), took the top spot in the 2010 Baseball America Preseason Poll.

 

The national runner-up a season ago, Texas is No. 1 in the preseason polls for Collegiate Baseball and for Ping! Baseball.

 

After making its first trip to the College World Series in 2009, Virginia is No. 2 in the poll. The LSU Tigers, the defending national champion, is third, followed by Cal State Fullerton, Rice, Georgia Tech, Florida, UC Irvine, Florida State and South Carolina.

 

There are six teams from the ACC and six from the SEC in the poll. The ACC squads include No. 2 Virginia, No. 6 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Florida State, No. 15 Clemson, No. 16 Miami (Fla.), and No. 20 North Carolina. The SEC teams include No. 3 LSU, No. 8 Florida, No. 10 South Carolina, No. 17 Arkansas, No. 22 Georgia and No. 24 Ole Miss.
