Olerud Award to honor two-way player of the year

The College Baseball Foundation announced the creation of the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award to be presented as part of the College Baseball Awards Show.

Olerud, a member of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame, was an outstanding pitcher and first baseman at Washington State from 1987-89.

The inaugural Olerud Award will be presented on July 2 in Lubbock, Texas, as part of the second annual College Baseball Awards Show, which includes the presentation of the Brooks Wallace Shortstop of the Year Award, the Pitcher of the Year Award and the Dick Howser Trophy for the nation’s most outstanding player.

The College Baseball Awards Show is part of a three-day celebration honoring college baseball past and present. The celebration also features the induction ceremony for the National College Baseball Hall of Fame and the 4th on Broadway Parade and Fan Fest.
