Best ballgames could be Baseball at the Beach

There are many interesting series and tournaments on the second weekend of the 2010 season.

There is an outstanding field for this year’s Baseball at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Eric Pettis (right) and No. 5 UC Irvine head across the country to join host No. 17 Coastal Carolina, CAA favorite James Madison and ACC member NC State, which set offensive records a weekend ago.

There are three series pitting team in the CBI Composite Poll. Fresh off its sweep of Rice, No. 19 Stanford travels to No. 5 Texas. No. 10 TCU heads west to meet No. 9 Cal State Fullerton. No. 14 South Carolina returns to Greenville, N.C., to face No. 20 East Carolina.

The Big East/Big Ten Challenge takes place this weekend in Florida. The top match-ups look to be Ohio State against USF on Friday and Louisville against Minnesota on Sunday.

The Baylor Invitational brings together Baylor, Texas State, Texas A&M and Western Kentucky.

The Dodgertown Classic has USC and UCLA welcoming Vanderbilt and Oklahoma State to the West Coast.

There are several other intriguing series. Tennessee heads to the Northwest to meet No. 18 Oregon State. Rhode Island travels to No. 2 Virginia. Bowling Green goes to Kentucky. San Diego and San Diego State renew their cross-town rivalry. Oregon heads to the islands to meet Hawaii. Wake Forest welcomes Kent State.

Enjoy the games!
