Krieger Highlights CAA Preseason Team

Senior outfielder Scott Krieger of George Mason was named Preseason Player of the Year in the Colonial Athletic Association in voting by the league’s head coaches and released by the conference office.

Krieger was second team All-CAA a season ago, batting .381 with 16 doubles, 21 home runs and 60 RBI. Krieger set a school record with his 21 homers in 2008. He smacked five during the CAA Tournament and set tourney records with 14 RBI and 32 total bases in four games.

Krieger was one of four Patriots to be named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, joining first baseman Justin Bour (pictured left), second baseman Ryan Soares and catcher Chris Henderson.

Georgia State and James Madison each had three players on the Preseason All-CAA Team.

The 2009 campaign begins on Friday, Feb. 20. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top six CAA teams will compete in the conference tournament May 20-23 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
