BC went 2-1 in the ACC Tournament, with victories over Georgia Tech and Miami after an opening-round loss to regular-season champ Florida State. Head coach Mik Aoki was pitching coach for the Eagles for three seasons before becoming head coach. Assistant coach Steve Englert was one of CBI’s first journalists in 2003. BC has players from 12 different states. Catcher Tony Sanchez is one of 13 semifinalists for the Johnny Bench Award. Notes: Army is in the tourney field for the first time since 2005, when they surprised South Alabama for its first NCAA tourney win. This year’s edition has loads of young talent. The Black Knights always seem to have a solid two-way player – this year, they have two in sophomores Kevin McKague (92 RBI the past two years) and Ben Koenigsfeld (14 wins the past two years). Another sophomore, Joey Henshaw, has contributed more as a hitter but still contributed 20 innings on the mound. Clint Moore was named a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award after being named the Patriot League rookie of the year last year.
