Notes: ASU is making its fourth Super Regional appearance and second straight at home. The Sun Devils hold an 11-5 series lead on Fresno State. ASU had reached 40 wins for the fifth time in the past six seasons. Brett Wallace currently leads the Pac-10 in the three Triple Crown categories. He is the fifth player to be named Pac-10 Player of the Year in consecutive seasons. Wallace is fifth in ASU history with 44 home runs, trailing Bob Horner (56), Jeff Larish (51), Mike Kelly (46) and Barry Bonds (45). Mike Leake was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and Jason Kipnis was named Pac-10 Newcomer of the Year. Pat Murphy was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year for the second straight year and third time overall. Arizona State is the only school to host Regionals and Super Regionals in both softball and baseball.

Notes: Fresno state is the second No. 4 seed to win a regional in the current tournament format. Missouri captured the Malibu Regional in 2006 from the 4-spot. The Bulldogs beat San Diego in the championship game, their fifth NCAA tourney win over the Toreros in the past three years. FSU has won three straight WAC titles. The Bulldogs swept the WAC awards. Steve Susdorf was Player of the Year, Tanner Scheppers was Pitcher of the Year, Danny Muno was Freshman of the Year and Mike Batesole was co-Coach of the Year. Scheppers has missed the past six weeks due to injury. He was taken in the second round of the MLB draft by Pittsburgh.
