Notes: The Tigers staff allowed the fewest walks (154) and was second in strikeouts (446) in the Big 12. Aaron Crow was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and led the NCAA in wins (12), had an NCAA-best 42.2 scoreless inning streak, and was third in the NCAA in strikeouts (111). Aaron Senne was second in the Big 12 in RBI (63). Infielder Kyle Mach and pitcher Andrew Mueller both had grandfathers who won a World Series.

Notes: Ole Miss was in danger of missing out on the NCAA tournament for the just the second time in the Mike Bianco era, but had an impressive run in the SEC Tournament that included wins over top-seed Georgia as well as Kentucky and Vanderbilt. Michael Guerrero crushed five homers in the SEC tournament. Ole Miss will be gunning to advance out of their regional for a fourth straight year. The Rebels featured one of the best staffs in the SEC; Left-hander Drew Pomeranz was named to the SEC all-freshman team, while Lance Lynn and Scott Bittle were named to the All-SEC second team. The Rebels' 4.00 ERA was third best among tournament-bound SEC teams.

 

4. Bethune-Cookman Wildcats

Notes: B-CU went 3-0 to capture its third straight MEAC title and 11th in the past 13 seasons. The Wildcats dominated conference play, only losing once in their final conference series at Delaware State. B-CU opens regional play against Miami. The Wildcats are 1-16 all-time against the Hurricanes. Miami topped B-CU twice this season, 10-5 and 7-6. This is Bethune-Cookman’s ninth regional appearance and third regional in Coral Gables (1999, 2003).
