Finalists named for Senior CLASS Award

Ten finalists were named for the 2008 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award in the baseball division. Nationwide voting had begun to determine this year’s winner, who will receive the award during the College World Series in Omaha.

The finalists were selected from a list of 30 candidates based on four primary areas: classroom, community, character and competition.

The 2008 finalists are: Jason Buursma, Bucknell; Eitan Barbalat, Bradley; Jarod Freeman, Oklahoma; Ryan Hastings, Illinois, Charlie Mellies, Wake Forest; Josh Meents, Air Force; Rob Musgrave, Wichita State; Brett Scott, Kansas State; Cole St. Clair, Rice; and Tyler Stovall, Central Michigan.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award launched in 2001 with NCAA basketball. Alabama infielder Emeel Salem won the inaugural baseball award in 2007.
