MAC Tournament to be played in Chillicothe, Ohio

The Mid-American Conference has announced that its baseball tournament will be played at the VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.

It will be the second time in league history that the MAC Tournament will be played at a neutral site. In 1982, the championship was held at Trautman Field in Columbus, Ohio. The other tournaments have had the regular-season champion served as host.

The tournament will also be expanded to eight teams. Prior championships were six-team double-elimination tournaments. The new format will mirror the College World Series bracket. There will be two divisions, with the winner of each double-elimination pool meeting in a one-game title contest.

The MAC Tournament will be held from May 21-24 at the home of the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier League. The VA Memorial Stadium seats 4,000 and has a Field Turf playing surface. The VA Memorial Stadium has hosted several college games this year, including six with MAC member Ohio University. There will also be a MAC Tournament Celebration on Tuesday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. for all players, staff, parents and fans.
