Notes – Luke Appert was named Big Ten player of the year for the second consecutive year. He is second player to win back-to-back awards, joining Barry Larkin (Michigan 1984-85). Glen Perkins was named freshman of the year in the conference. John Anderson became the first Big Ten coach to be named coach of the year in consecutive seasons. He had won the award in three of the past four seasons and four times overall. The Gophers have won the past two Big Ten regular-season crowns. This will be Minnesota’s 12 NCAA appearance under Anderson.

Notes – Frank Sanchez brings the Waves to the NCAAs for the third time in the past five years. Pepperdine has won at least 30 games for 26 consecutive seasons. This is the 20th NCAA bid for Pepperdine. The Waves have reached the College World Series twice, finishing third in 1979 and winning the national championship in 1992. Chris Kelly has more than 40% of his team’s home runs (15 of 35). Kevin Estrada has more than 60% of the Waves’ stolen bases (34 of 53).
