Team of the Week

North Carolina named CBI Team of the Week

 

North Carolina put together a 5-0 week with four road victories. The Tar Heels have been named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com Team of the Week.

 

North Carolina defeated Davidson 5-4 on Tuesday before winning 3-0 at Southern Conference leader Elon on Wednesday. The Tar Heels traveled to No. 18 Clemson to open its ACC slate. UNC won 4-3 on Friday, 6-3 on Saturday and 6-5 in 11 innings on Sunday.

 

Regional Teams of the Week

 

Northeast: Wagner won two of three at Jacksonville, one of the favorites in the Atlantic Sun. The Seahawks rebounded from a 10-0 loss on Friday to win 4-1 on Saturday and 6-5 on Sunday.

 

Southeast: Wake Forest went 5-0 to extend its win streak to 13. The Demon Deacons took a pair of midweek games from Valparaiso, winning 13-4 on Tuesday and 3-0 on Wednesday. WFU swept red-hot Maryland in ACC action, 10-5 on Friday, 9-6 on Saturday and 4-3 on Sunday.

 

Central: Missouri put together a 4-0 week. The Tigers topped Nebraska-Omaha 14-4 on Tuesday before taking three from Atlantic 10 favorite Charlotte. Missouri won 10-4 on Friday and swept a Saturday doubleheader, 5-3 and 3-2.

 

West: UCLA enjoyed a 4-0 week to stretch its win streak to 10. The Bruins won 4-0 at home against UC Riverside on Tuesday before sweeping a three-game set at No. 11 Georgia. UCLA won 2-0 on Friday, 7-6 on Saturday and 7-3 on Sunday.

 

Honorable Mention

 

Cal State Fullerton went 3-1 with a win at USC before taking two of three at No. 5 Texas A&M.

Liberty had a 4-1 week, winning at Old Dominion before taking three of four at home from Big East favorite St. John’s.

Stanford went 3-1 with a win at Saint Mary’s prior to taking two of three from No. 4 Rice.

NC State went 3-1 with a win over Davidson before taking two of three from No. 9 Georgia Tech.

Elon rebounded from a loss at North Carolina to sweep a three-game SoCon set from Georgia Southern.

UNC Wilmington bounced back from a loss at Coastal Carolina to sweep its CAA-opening series from conference favorite James Madison.

ULM went 4-1 with two wins over Memphis before taking two of three at Tennessee.

New Mexico rebounded from a loss at New Mexico State to sweep a three-game set from previously unbeaten Gonzaga.

East Carolina lost at Troy before beating Alabama, Oral Roberts and Louisville in the DRASH Alabama Classic.

Delaware State won at Delaware before sweeping a three-game MEAC series at Norfolk State.
