Tracy Woodson has filled out his coaching staff at Richmond. Matt Tyner will serve as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator, Josh Davis will be pitching coach, Tanner Biagini will be the volunteer assistant and Austin McGowan will be director of operations. Tyner was head coach at Bellarmine for the past two years. He played at Miami (Fla.) and was also an assistant at Butler. Davis, the son of former Major League catcher Jody Davis, was an assistant for the past three years at Presbyterian. He played at Virginia Tech, Tallahassee Community College and Charleston Southern. Davis also coached at Richland College. Biagini has been the volunteer assistant for the Spiders for the past two years. He was also a coach for the Fayetteville Swampdogs of the Coastal Plain League. McGowan was a four-year letterman at Old Dominion, playing in 124 games with 83 starts. He was also an intern in the strength and conditioning department at ODU.


Marty Sutherland has been hired as interim hitting coach and recruiting coordinator at Iowa. He played and coached under Hawkeye head coach Rick Heller at Northern Iowa. Sutherland was an assistant at UNI from 2003-09, aiding in 154 wins in six seasons for the Panthers. Recently, Sutherland was an assistant at Cascade (Iowa) High School and hitting/fielding instructor at Bases Loaded Academy in Dubuque, Iowa.


Iowa will hold its eighth annual Iowa Baseball Golf Outing on Aug. 30 at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside, Iowa. The four-person best ball format begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.


Adam Bourassa has joined Ty Neal’s staff at Cincinnati as hitting specialist. Bourassa worked in the San Diego Padres organization from 2008-13. He was an area supervisor for the Mid-Atlantic Region, covering North and South Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky. Bourassa played at Kishwaukee for two years and Wake Forest for two seasons. He was an outfielder in professional baseball for five years.
