Lineup Card is a feature highlighting notes from around

Cal State Fullerton will host UC Santa Barbara on
Nov. 3 in an exhibition game at Goodwin Field. The contest,
which begins at 2 p.m., is open to the public and free of
charge. Family Fun Day will precede the game, with a free youth
clinic for kids 13 and younger from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Southern Illinois will have senior pitcher Cody
Forsythe and junior second baseman Jake Welch as co-captains for
the 2013 campaign. Forsythe was also a captain this past year.
He has been the Friday starter for the past two seasons, earning
First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors in 2011 and
Second Team All-MVC in 2012. Forsythe was 13-9 with a 2.73 ERA
over the past two years. Welch batted .308 with 21 extra-base
hits in 2012 as the Salukis’ leadoff hitter. He led the team
with 16 steals and was fifth in the MVC with 48 runs.
Austin Peay will begin its best-of-five Red-White
World Series on Friday at 5 p.m. at Raymond C. Hand Park.
Saturday’s game will begin at 11 a.m., while Sunday’s contest
will start at 1 p.m. If necessary, Games 4 & 5 will be at 4 p.m.
next Wednesday and Thursday.
Former
Tennessee All-American Chase Headley (right) of the San Diego
Padres won the Gold Glove for National League third basemen. He
became the second former Volunteer to earn the award, joining
Todd Helton, who won three as the Colorado Rockies first
baseman. Headley played at UT from 2004-05, helping the Vols
reach the College World Series in his final season.
Former Oregon State standout Darwin Barney of the
Chicago Cubs became the second former Beaver to win a Gold
Glove, claiming the honor for National League second basemen.
Jacoby Ellsbury earned the award in center field for the Boston
Red Sox in 2011. Barney committed just two errors in 731 chances
and tied a Major League record for consecutive games in a single
season without an error by a second baseman at 141. He played at
OSU from 2005-07.
For the third straight year, Loyola Marymount
held a costumed practice on Halloween.
