Southern Miss will wear commemorative green jerseys for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day contest against Murray State. Fans are encouraged to wear green to the game. A select number of the green jerseys will be available for auction on March 19.

In recognition of head coach Danny Hall’s 999 career wins, Georgia Tech will offer a $9.99 special for Friday night’s game against Virginia Tech. The special, for walk-up sales only, includes a ticket along with a voucher for a free popcorn and soda.

Senior Tommy Chase of Notre Dame is one of five finalists for the 2012 Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup. The winner will be announced on April 25. A unanimous choice for team captain, Chase coordinated the Fight for Tide program after the tornadoes struck in Alabama. There were 24 student-athletes and six administrators who went to Tuscaloosa to help rebuild the area communities. Chase leads the Notre Dame Christian Athletes program and is involved in the South Bend LifeWorks Dream Team, Adopt-a Family, Buddy Walk, Habitat for Humanity, Irish Experience League, Pediatric Christmas Party, Play for Peace and Perley Elementary Tutor programs.

Senior shortstop D.J. Crumlich was named UC Irvine’s 2011-12 Big West Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Crumlich is a member of the Dean’s Honor List and is a business economics major. He was a second team All-Big West selection and coaches an 11-year-old baseball team as well as volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Laguna Beach.
