Feb. 20-29, 2012
Kevin Jordan, the recipient of a kidney donated
by head coach Tom Walter, will make his home debut for Wake
Forest on Feb. 22 against High Point. Jordan had two hits and a
run in three games at New Mexico State this past weekend.
Jason Gill, head coach at Loyola Marymount, will
join Oregon head coach George Horton and Grand Canyon skipper
Andy Stankiewicz as assistants under Team USA head coach Dave
Serrano, who is also head coach at Tennessee. Gill was an
auxiliary coach during the 2000 collegiate trials, but he and
Stankiewicz will make their coaching debuts this summer.
Eastern Michigan has added a game with Madonna on
Feb. 22 at 2 p.m. The Eagles were rained out on Feb. 19 against
Dayton at the USC Upstate Tournament.
Middle Tennessee and Lipscomb both lost a game to
the weather this past weekend, so will now play a doubleheader
on Feb. 21 at Dugan Field at Marsh Stadium in Nashville.
Due to snow on the field, William & Mary’s Feb.
21 game at Virginia has been moved to Feb. 22.
War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C., is not
playable, so North Carolina A&T will play at Elon on Feb. 21 at
4 p.m. The March 14 meeting will now be in Greensboro.
Due to unplayable field conditions at Joe Etzel
Field, Portland will play at Concordia on Feb. 21.
Old Dominion and Norfolk State will meet on April
17 at Harbor Park, the home of the Triple-A Norfolk Tides.
Starting in 2013, the schools will meet three times, once each
on their respective campuses and once at Harbor Park.
Penn State will wear the initials ‘JVP’ on its
caps this season in memory of former football coach Joe Paterno,
who passed away last month.
Southern Wine and Spirits of South Carolina will
distribute the Ray Tanner Series, a two-bottle wine collection
commemorating the consecutive national championships by the
Gamecocks. The wine will be available April 1, with proceeds
benefiting the South Carolina baseball and golf programs.
Seton Hall associate head coach Phil Cundari was
named National Pitching Coach of the Year by Collegiate
Baseball. Cundari helped lead the Pirates to the Big East
Championship as Seton Hall was first in the league in ERA and
second in strikeouts, innings and opponent batting average.
