Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission announced the official
watch list for the 2010 Johnny Bench Award. The list, which
includes Cody Stanley of UNC Wilmington (right), will be reduced
to 10 semifinalists on May 19 and three finalists on June 2. The
winner will be announced on July 1.

The Big East won the second annual Big East/Big
Ten Challenge 17-13. The Big Ten went 7-3 on Friday, but the Big
East answered by going 7-3 on both Saturday and Sunday.

Division I through Sunday, Feb. 28. LSU is averaging 10,580 fans
through seven dates to lead the nation. South Carolina is second
at 7,072 in three contests. Arkansas (6,621), Ole Miss (6,542)
and Texas (6,092) round out the top five. UCLA and USC drew
14,588 this past Sunday at Dodger Stadium for the top crowd of

Georgia freshman shortstop Kyle Farmer will miss
three to six weeks with a hamate fracture in his left wrist,
which will require surgery. Farmer is second on the team with a
.458 batting average and .667 slugging percentage. He has
started the first six game at short for the Bulldogs.
Tennessee freshman outfielder Chris Fritts had a
diving catch on the warning track in Sunday’s game at Oregon
State and was No. 9 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the Day.
