Bradley’s two-game series this weekend at
Illinois has been cancelled due to snow and below-average
temperatures.
Bucknell’s three-game
series with VMI has been moved from Lexington, Va., to Prince
George High School in Prince George, Va. VMI’s Gray-Minor
Stadium is unplayable due to snow and ice. The teams will play a
1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday at 1
p.m.
Sophomore right-hander Ross Oltorik of Ohio State
is expected to miss the season due to a recent shoulder injury.
Surgery or a four-month rehabilitation program are potential
options. A former OSU football player, Oltorik was 1-1 a season
ago in six starts and 31.0 innings.
Former Georgia State pitcher Adam Knight has
signed a professional contract with the Normal CornBelters of
the Frontier League. Knight posted a 7-7 record with a 5.90 ERA
in two seasons with the Panthers. He had 16 starts in 29
appearances, with 82 strikeouts in 90 innings.
Auburn
sophomore shortstop Casey McElroy (left) will miss the start of
the season with a fractured finger on his right hand suffered
during preseason practice. He is out indefinitely. McElroy was a
Freshman All-American in 2009, hitting .286 with seven homers
and 35 RBI in 56 starts.
Ryan Mau has been promoted to Associate Head
Coach at VMI. Entering his fifth season with the Keydets, Mau is
also pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at VMI. Mau is a
2001 graduate of the College of Charleston.
Middle Tennessee will have 50 of its 56 games
broadcast on either WMTS or WMOT, including all 27 home games.
Tony Stinnett will call the action early in the season. Dick
Palmer will take over at the conclusion of the women’s

Tennessee has named juniors Blake Forsythe, Josh
Liles, Bryan Morgado and Rob Catapano as captains for the 2010
season. Forsythe batted .347 last year with 15 homers and 36 RBI
in starting 53 of UT’s 55 games behind the plate. Liles was
hitting .313 with eight homers, 25 RBI and eight steals before
injuring his wrist diving for a fly ball. Morgado has 179
strikeouts in 132.2 collegiate innings. He is expected to be
UT’s Friday night starter. Catapano sat out last season after
transferring from North Carolina.
Arkansas State baseball broadcasts will air on
KBTM 1230 AM with Matt Stolz handling play-by-play.
After having its opening series at James Madison
cancelled due to snow, Marist will now open the season at
Winthrop’s tournament, the Bojangles Baseball Classic. Marist
will play George Mason and Northwestern as well as facing
Winthrop twice.
Tim Hudson, Bo Jackson, Gregg Olson and Frank
Thomas will be the inaugural class for the Auburn Baseball Wall
of Fame. They will be recognized on Saturday, Feb. 27, at
Plainsman Park prior to the Auburn-Missouri game at 3 p.m.

Florida State freshman Devon Travis has suffered
a hamate fracture to his left hand which will require surgery.
Standard recovery period is 4 to 8 weeks. Senior Mike Meschke
has also suffered a hamate fracture to his right hand which will
require surgery.
