Furmanek homers twice to power Towson into finals

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The sixth-seeded Towson baseball team used five home runs to top fourth-seeded William & Mary 16-7 in Game 8 of the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Championship.

First baseman Greg Furmanek paced the Tigers, going 2 for 4 with two home runs. He had four RBI and scored three runs.

Right fielder Mike Conley, left fielder Austin Harclerode and second baseman Gary Helmick also homered for Towson.

William & Mary was led by Ben Guez who went 2 for 5 with three RBI and his 13th home run of the season.

The Tribe had a 2-1 lead after two innings but Towson scored three in the bottom of the third. Towson scored two runs in the fourth and six in the fifth to extend their lead to 12-3.

Towson will face James Madison at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. If James Madison defeats George Mason on Friday night, it will be the first championship game. If the Dukes lose to the Patriots, then the Tigers and JMU will play to face George Mason for the championship.
